<p>This book brings together examples and cases from across the world to discuss how sport has and can further contribute to the UN 2030 Sustainable Development agenda. It discusses the major steps that international bodies have taken so far and can further take in the progressive integration of sport for sustainable development. Contributors from 21 countries take up at least one of the 17 UNO Sport for Development and Peace goals, and present and analyse examples of national, regional or local policies using sport as a lever for sustainable development. From traditional games to major competitions, from gender equality to social development and developing governmental transparency, the chapters showcase diverse experiences and demonstrate that sport is today much more than just physical activity. </p>
This book is based on the network of the International Research Network in Sport Tourism (IRNIST) with the collaboration of Sport 4 Impact. It is the first step of a collaboration between universities and the world of associations working in partnership with organizations such as the UN or the European Union. <p><b>Prof. Claude Sobry</b> is Emeritus Professor at the University of Lille. A Phd in economics, he became interested in the economics of sport in the early 1980s, one of the very first in France. He has focused on the impact of sports tourism on sustainable development over the past fifteen years. Holder at the University of Lille since 1990 he taught at several foreign universities (Morocco, Romania, Greece) and gave lectures or seminars in about 20 countries. He created and directed the Master in Sports Management at the University of Lille. He created and directed the International Master in Sport Tourism Engineering (with EU funding), and created and leads the International Research Network in Sport Tourism (IRNIST). He carried out appraisals for the European Commission and the French Ministry of Tourism in the context of the 2024 Olympic Games. He is the author or editor of 16 books on the economics or management of sport and sport tourism.</p><p><b>Dr. Kazem Hozhabri</b> holds a Ph.D. in sport management. His Ph.D. thesis was recognized as the best thesis by the Environment and Sports Commission of Iran in 2020. Also, he has studied at the University of Lille, France as a scientific researcher (2018-2019). His teaching experiences in various educational levels (schools and universities) for 20 years, led to the training of many students and PE teachers. He is currently working on the engagement of the SDP sector to environmental sustainability.</p><div><br></div><p></p><p></p>
