Nanocarriers, propounded amongst the finest nanotechnological developments, have demonstrated proven ability to revolutionize the delivery of pharmaceuticals, proteins, DNA-based therapeutics agents, imaging agents and neutraceuticals. Due to their immense potential in medicine, different aspects of nanocarriers, including the materials to prepare nanocarriers, their properties and applications, have attracted a great deal of attention of the scientists across the globe. This volume encompasses the technology-specific aspects and issues in the development of drug nanocarrier systems and their evaluation in terms of efficacy, safety and toxicity in different preclinical and clinical situations. A wide assortment of carrier systems for topical, transdermal and intranasal drug delivery has been elaborated upon. The targeting potential of nanocarriers to the intricate organs like brain as well as directly to the mitochondria has also been covered in this volume. Efforts have been made to collect and compile the most recent information and present it in a very lucid manner. The emerging advancements on drug nanocarriers encompassed in the book will certainly provide significant know-how to the researchers, particularly the juvenile ones, to look upon the subject critically and carefully, and utilize their immense potential in healthcare.
