The author was the participant of them, and not long before Napoleon's Campaign he had the post of the French ambassador in the Russian Empire. De Caulaincourt's memoirs are valuable for the large amount of facts and the analyses of the historic personalities - Bonaparte, emperor Alexander I, famous military leaders of the both armies.
