Mental health is becoming a more important topic in national and european health care initiatives, due to the marked increase in psychological illnesses over the last 10 years, a large proportion of which is at least partly work-related. The workplace of offshore workers is naturally inclined by a variety of psychological hazards, which are linked to the development of psychological illnesses. This report gives an overview of the typical psychological hazards present in an offshore environment, details the possibilities for risk assessments on psychological hazards and derives a recommendation for a company specific application of a risk assessment methodology.
